CLUB NIGHT
We have curated an insane lineup for you for this evening, with YAS MEEN SELECTRESS, DJ SATTAM & SANJ, and DJ AJNABEYE, who will all set the dancefloor on fire with irresistible sounds that will teleport you to the warmer soundscapes from the South and East, that will make you forgot that summer is still far away.
YAS MEEN SELECTRESS
Yas Meen Selectress is an Egyptian multi-genre DJ based in Cairo, crafting rhythmic club experiences with a blend of percussive bass and cultural nuances. Drawing from her Egyptian upbringing and a decade in New York, her sets create a fresh blend between Middle Eastern electronic music and rhythmic bass music influenced by New York’s diasporic club scene.
Klubb tarab has dreamt of inviting Yas Meen Selectress to Tromsø since our early days, since her sets are notoriously exhilarating, bringing the true meaning of the word tarab (music that induce a trance-like feeling of ecstasy)
DJ SATTAM & SANJ
Tromsø favorite DJ SANJ is back at klubb tarab for the first time since our debut event. DJ SANJ will enchant you with his Tamil dance rhythms and Asian fusion, but this time with brother in crime DJ SATTAM, travelling up from the Kristiansand to bring good vibes to the dancefloor. DJ SATTAM's sets draw energy from South African, Tamil, and global underground sounds - always with one goal: to make people move, by creating nights where borders blur and rhythm takes control. This is the b2b that dreams are made off
DJ AYNABEYE
This mystery DJ (which you might recognize under a different moniker) will open the evening with a solid foundation for a sweaty dancefloor with a mix of her favorite hiphop and club beats, blending bass bangers with her favorite Arab rap tracks, delivering a message of resistance and resilience of the underground.
POLICIES AND ACCESSIBILTY
Klubb tarab is a non-profit volunteer club concept which strive to present the freshest local underrepresented DJs with invited DJs and producers from Southeast Asia and North Africa. This means that we have additional expenses related to travel, visas and logistics, compared to other cultural events. We also do not receive any funding but still strive to pay DJs and artists a living wage in an increasingly exploitative art world. We understand that the entrance price might make our events inaccessible to some, so if you would like to join, but don't have the resources, please do not hesitate to get in touch before the event, as we always can use some extra help.
The venue is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible, as there are stairs leading down to the venue and a narrow door to the toilet. There is only one sit-down toilet (all genders) and one stand-up pissoir, but there are available toilets in the Tikibar upstairs, and Blå Rock around the corner. The music will be loud so bring your favorite earplugs and grab a pair of the provided earplugs in the door. There might be strobes, so if you are prone to seizures, let us know and we will not use them.
We want to house an inclusive event for all gender expressions, sexualities, and ethnicities, so we reserve the right to reject entry and ask people to leave, if any harassment or intolerant behavior is occurring. Please be aware of your privilege and the space you might take up because of it. Get in touch with staff or organizers if you feel uncomfortable or harassed. We encourage everyone to enjoy the music without excessive use of stimulants, as this might not only harm you but also those around you
Looking forward to this evening with our Tromsø family
